Where is my dog?

Understanding the Grooming Process:

Hello Pet Parents,

First, I want to say Thank you! I have been a part of this community of pet lovers for almost two Years! WOW, how time does fly!! As most of you know I am always making changes to better serve all of you and our fur babies! From equipment to aid with more challenging pets to color changes that affect the atmosphere within the shop. It is my hope that all four-legged creatures are as comfortable as possible.

I wanted to take a moment to share some insights into the grooming process and address a common question I recently received. As someone who has been grooming for over 15 years, I strive to keep you informed and involved as much as possible. Every day brings new challenges, whether it’s a new dog or cat client, a difficult case of matting, or a pet that is particularly fearful. Working in an environment where our services are provided for living beings can indeed be challenging.

As a groomer and shop owner, I do my best to schedule appointments in a way that allows for a steady, organized flow with reasonable time to complete each groom. However, I was recently asked why some grooming sessions take 2 hours while others take 4. This question made me realize that despite my efforts to keep you informed, I haven’t had the opportunity to explain the inconsistencies from one appointment to the next.

Why Grooming Times Vary

When I worked for a corporate salon, one of the policies I was taught was to always quote 3-4 hours for grooming, regardless of the actual time needed. Keeping the pet for that period of time even if the groom was complete. This was to manage client expectations and avoid disappointment if a groom took longer than expected. However, as a shop owner, I do not follow this policy. When I am done grooming your pet, I immediately call to let you know they are ready for pickup. Unfortunately this is what causes the confusion and sometimes upset with the pet's parent.

Factors Affecting Grooming Time

Several factors can influence the time it takes to groom your pet:

  1. Condition of the Coat: A matted coat requires more time and care to groom safely.

  1. Pet’s Behavior: A nervous or fearful pet may need extra time and patience.

  1. Additional Services: Walk-in nail trims, phone calls, and pets requiring extra attention can also affect the schedule.

Our Commitment to Quality Care

My goal is to groom each and every animal with compassion, patience, and above all, safety. I want your pet to receive the best care from me and my staff. I will continue to tweak my scheduling to improve efficiency. If you have any time constraints or engagements, please let me know. I can always schedule your pet’s appointment on a different day or try to accommodate them as the first in or last out.

Communication is Key

Communication is the best way to avoid any disappointment or confusion. Thank you to the pet parent who asked me to explain the difference in grooming times! We are all striving for the same goal: a happy, healthy pet.

Thank you for your understanding and continued trust in our services.

Warm regards,
